| Background & Demand |
|
China is witnessing an unparalleled house build?ing boom. Average annual house building area in China is about 1 billion m2, which has exceeded all developed countries. However, energy-saving building area covers only less than 0.1 billion m2, accounting for only less than 5% of the total newly finished building area. Till now, total building area in both urban and rural area is 40 billion m2 ( with 14 billion m2 in urban area), among which an area of only 0.32 billion m2 is covered by energy-saving buildings, accounting for less than 1%.
China has a long way to go to catch up with devel?oped countries in terms of building energy consump?tion. New energy-saving and environment-friendly technologies and materi?als are the need of the hour. In order to ensure the benefits of energy saving, the country gives incentives in terms of both policy and finance. It is specified in the State Council Document NO. 15 (2007) states that governments at all levels shall allocate funds for key energy conservation & emission reduction projects and invest more in energy-saving and en?vironment protection. |
